Kindergarten

Some cute things that happened today in some Kindergarten classes:

A little boy raised his hand when I asked what they saved up their money for and said:

"Did you know that pennies look like chocolate?"

When it came to the part where they got to ask questions about money, one little girl asked:

"Which money has skulls on it?"

When I asked them who was on the nickel, they said "George Washington." We had just talked about it, and that is not the correct answer, so I tried again by telling them that it started with a "T". One little boy raised his hand and said, "Torge Washington." (Negative.)

I also learned today that Abraham Lincoln was the 16th prophet, and he's important because he got shot in the head. (What are they teaching in kindergarten these days? Gruesome...)

Today's runner-up for my "favorite comment" award goes to a small boy, who when I first walked into the room, looked me up and down and said:

"She doesn't look like a bank lady."
Teacher: "You don't think so?"
Boy: "No...(long pause)...No, she looks like Adam's mom."

Then all the other kids agreed that I did, in fact, look like Adam's mom. I'm not sure that I like the idea that I could look like any of their mothers, but...

And my very favorite comment of the day comes from a little boy just as I was leaving his classroom. He said, "You look really pretty."

I know he's only 5, but I take compliments wherever I can get them. And I actually look fairly not pretty today, so that's always nice to hear.

Everything I know I learned in Kindergarten... Of course, I never attended kindergarten. I wonder what that means? Thanks for sharing the funny day. And-by the way, you do look pretty!

This is why I love my job. I could write a book of quotes.
