Entertaining

I'm not a hostess by nature. I have no desire to entertain folks. Would I like to socialize? Sure, I often have that desire. But would I like to host an event to obtain that socialization? No way.

I've really only entertained twice. Both worked fine logistically, but were not enjoyable for me, so I have no desire to do it again.

Then, today, I read an article about summer parties and entertaining. It was on Oprah.com, so I think it probably reflects social norms. (Don't all people who entertain want to be like Oprah? I don't know...)

Be brave with your guest list, and mix as many generations, job disciplines, neighborhoods and incomes as you can rope in. Consider the idea that as a host, you're suddenly in the business of serving people to one another.

Amazingly, this makes me want to entertain even less. I have no desire to be in the business of serving people to one another. Gross.
