But turning my attention to the topic at hand: there is a fabulous jacket at Lands' End that I have been coveting for months. I didn't purchase it because it was $79.50, and I feel like that is a ridiculous amount to spend on a jacket.
As the seasons turn more toward summer, the jacket is now on sale. New price? $55.65. Still WAY too much for me to spend on it, even with free shipping.
Alas, I will continue to not buy the jacket. Maybe it'll get cheaper...
At what point will it be reasonable to purchase the jacket?
Keep in mind, it's really cute. And I look great in jackets.

Ooooh, how fun! Does Lands' End have stores, or just the catalog/online presence? Because here's my thinking . . . I bought a $140 jacket at Express several years ago, on sale for $80, and it killed me to spend that. I fully expected to return it unless I found several dashing things to go along with it. I didn't, so I returned it less than 60 days later, and they said, "This is actually $20 now--are you sure you want to return it? We can credit the $60 to your card." So I kept it. Not sure if you could do that with Lands' End, or if they offer price adjustments 14 days or whatever after the fact. But it might be worth looking into . . . And p.s. I don't make a habit of buying things just to hold onto it as it keeps going down; it just happened with that jacket and I was thrilled because I love it!
Just buy it.

Buy it. I found some fabulous pants once, but had decided before I went shopping that I'd only spend $10. They were $11 (clearance when the Eddie Bauer store was going out of business) so I didn't buy them. I went to another store that was also having a clearance and found another great pair of pants, $10.50, didn't buy them.
Regret, regret, regret.
Also, coats last a LOOOOONG time, you'll get your money's worth.
I agree - just buy it. If you really love it, you'll get so much good out of it. You'll thank yourself when the fall comes around and you can wear it! I still have a jacket that I bought in Russia that I thought was a little pricey, but I still love it and I don't regret my decision one bit!
