I'm watching a show on the History Channel (don't laugh--it's a good one) about the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World, which mostly don't exist anymore. The show is about archaeological evidence, historical writings, etc, that can be used to recreate those structures.
Anyway, one of them is the Temple of Artemis, who is one of the Greek Gods. She is the goddess of chastity and childbirth.
It just doesn't seem appropriate to be the goddess of both...
Artemis is also a goddess of fertility.
I think that Dionysus, the god of wine and fertility, makes more sense.
