Voodoo Doughnuts

When I head out on the road, I always do some research ahead of time so that I have some ideas of places to see and places where I want to eat.

One of the places that was recommended to me again and again is a small place called Voodoo Doughnuts.

The doughnuts are pretty tasty, but you have to wait a long, long time to get them. Here are some pictures of the shop and the doughnuts. (My apologies for the blurriness: the doughnuts are spinning around in a display case, and the shop is very dark.)

Yes, yes, that is a maple bar with bacon on it. I did not eat one.

Here's the outside of the shop:

The entrance to the shop is just slightly to the right of the green door on the far left of the picture.

Slightly outside of the frame of this shot is an adult movie theater. Its sign says that it plays several films in rotation 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It's just information I didn't need.

The line takes about 30-45 minutes to get through. I didn't eat any of the crazy doughnuts, but the regular ones were just fabulous.

If you're wondering what it smells like in that giant line, to be honest, it smells like pot.

Fortunately, the doughnuts were great, and I used them to refuel after my walk that day in Portland.

We saw this place on the show Man vs. Food. That is a crazy line.
